Since 2018, ANIMAGE has presented the African Exhibition in its programming, focused exclusively on animation production from the African continent. ANIMAGE's objective in creating this exhibition, which establishes connections with African filmmakers and has become one of the most popular at the festival, is to provide the public with access to a production that is practically absent at animation festivals. A space for the appreciation and representation of African identity and cinema for the Brazilian public, with films that bring different artistic perspectives and social contexts. The African ANIMAGE Exhibition chosen to be shown now at LANTERNA MÁGICA is curated by Kalor Pacheco, animation scriptwriter and creator of the Mostra Além-Mar de Animação Negra e Indígena. “We seek to explore the challenges faced in creating animated productions, addressing issues related to capitalization, access to technologies and equipment, and the training necessary to complete projects,” shares Kalor.
